SAP Ratings

SAP Rating stands for The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP). It s is a calculation of a building’s energy efficiency. SAP ratings are range from 1 to 100. 1 is the least efficient rating and 100 represents no heating/hot water cost. A Target Emission Rate (TER) of CO2 has to be calculated within the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP).

This will be based on a level 20% below a typical dwelling built to the 2002 standards. The actual Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) must be no worse than the TER. The new SAP 2005 incorporates all these calculations.

Architects, builders, Developers and Self-builders need a SAP Rating

For: New dwellings, extensions, material change of use and conversions.

Local Authorities need SAP Ratings:

• For: rented dwellings and affordable warmth strategies
  

Housing Associations (RSLs) need SAP Ratings:

• For: compliance with Housing Corporations Scheme Development Standards for both new and existing dwellings
  

Private Landlords need SAP Ratings for:

• identifying improvement options and assisting with access grants

Home-owners, Estate Agents and Surveyors need SAP Ratings
